Spearo Go — Privacy Policy

Spearo Go ("the app," "we," "us") is a New England spearfishing logbook, regulations reference, and freediving breath-training app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account info: your email address (for sign-in and password recovery) and the profile you create — username, display name, home state, bio, and optional avatar photo.
- Content you create: catches you log (species, size, weight, date, gear, notes, photos), breath-training sessions, gear quiver, dive-buddy posts and group-chat messages, meal-feed posts, comments, and upvotes/likes.
- Location: if you choose to pin a catch's spot or use the conditions feature, we use your device location. Pinned catch spots are private to you and never shown to other users. You can decline location access and still use the app.
- Usage: basic technical data needed to run the app (e.g. error and update info via our service providers).
How we use it
- To provide the core features — logging, leaderboards, regulations, breath training, and social features you opt into.
- To authenticate you and let you recover your password.
- To show conditions and season/legality information for your area.
- To keep the community safe (reviewing reported content, enforcing our rules).
What we share
We do not sell your personal information. Content you post publicly (profile, catches without private spots, leaderboard entries, comments, meal-feed and dive-buddy posts) is visible to other users by design. We use trusted service providers to run the app:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Expo / EAS — app delivery and over-the-air updates.
- OpenWeather & Open-Meteo — weather/conditions data (your coordinates may be sent to retrieve local conditions).
- NOAA Tides & Currents — public tide predictions.
Your choices & rights
- Delete your account: in the app, open Profile → Edit Profile → Danger Zone → "Delete my account." This permanently removes your account and all associated data (catches, photos, messages, posts). This cannot be undone.
- Privacy controls: you can keep your breath personal bests and training-session counts private in your profile settings. Pinned catch spots are always private.
- Block & report: you can block any user and report content directly in the app.
- Access/questions: email us any time (below).
Children
Spearo Go is intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed. We rely on our providers' industry-standard security; no system is perfectly secure.
